Good weather and an excellent playing surface was hopefully going to play its part in an entertaining game of football.

East Coast kicked off and were soon in their stride attacking the Clee Town goal. Their first attack was easily thwarted by Captain Jake and Kane (who was now playing in his more familiar role after his Stevie Gerrard exploits of last week in midfield!!!). The game was developing into a real battle in midfield but so far the Lions had the upper hand. It wasn't long before the first goal of the game arrived and it went to the Lions. The ball broke in midfield and the quick N09 East Coast striker picked the ball up on the edge of the box and fired a cracking shot past the helpless Tom to make the score 1-0 to the home side. East Coast had their tails up now and seemed to be winning most of the play in midfield. The Clee Town boys seemed to be a little off the pace which was unusual for them and it wasn't long before they conceded a 2nd goal. East Coast attacked and as they moved into the penalty box the hard working George timed his tackle to perfection but conceded a corner in the process. The resulting corner was swung in towards the penalty spot and the East Coast player had managed to shake his marker before dispatching a shot goalwards which clipped the inside of the post and went in. 2-0 to the home side. The second goal seemed to wake the Clee Town boys and they attacked immediately from the restart. Harrison and Benji managed to work the ball between them and played a lovely ball through to Callum who held the ball up brilliantly. He in turn swept the ball out to Hoby who attacked the East Coast back line. Hoby launched the ball into the penalty box but his cross cum shot actually evaded the keeper and crossed the line for a goal. The reaction on the sidelines was delayed but the referee gave the goal to Clee Town. 2-1 GAME ON!!. Half time came and the score remained 2-1 to the Lions. The second half kicked off and Clee Town had their tails up from the start. They immediately attacked the East Coast defence and it wasn't long before the equalizer arrived. Jake and Kane managed to close down the East Coast attacker and won the ball.Jake played a fine ball through the middle into the feet of Harrison who ran towards the penalty box and played the ball into Brandon. Brandon managed to skip through a crowded penalty box and placed his firm shot into the left hand corner away from the keeper. Goaaaaaaalllllll! 2-2. East Coast tried hard to get their winning lead back but it wasn't long before a fantastic team move led to the third goal for Clee Town. Toby won the ball on the right hand side and exchanged passes with Benji. Toby then sent a long ball down the line to the nippy Hoby, whom then used his pace and skill to beat the left back before moving into the penalty box and smashing his shot into the inside of the near post. 2-3. Clee Town made a substitution and the hardworking Toby was replaced by Josh who had no problem slipping into the right back position. The East Coast players were now wondering what had happened as the game looked well in their control in the first half, but this didn't stop them pushing for an equalizer. This unfortunately left them a little open and led to Clee Town's fourth goal. A great ball out of defence by the excellent George was picked up on the left by Callum. With one quick turn of his body he managed to lose his defender and played a lovely ball inside to Jamie who managed to fire a rocket of a shot past the despairing East Coast keeper. 2-4. The fourth goal spurred the Clee Town boys even more and they went looking for the fifth and it wasn't long in coming. Again it was a great team move that started in midfield with Harrison forcing his opposite number it an error and gaining control of the ball. He played a long ball out to Brandon on the left wing who controlled the ball brilliantly and eased past his marker. He laid the ball off to Jamie who then swung a glorious ball into the back post where both Hoby and Harrison were flying into the penalty box unmarked. Hoby managed to get to the ball first and capped off a fine performance by placing his shot past the keeper to complete his hat trick. The final whistle sounded not long after and a fantastic team performance by the lads completed a brilliant comeback. Well done to you all and I couldn't have asked for any more from you in the second half. Well done.

Match Report 13th Sept- Clee Town Bass 4 v 3 Clee Bees

The new season was now upon us and the newly formed Clee Town Bass Under 11's went into the first league game with high expectations hoping to carry on their great pre-season form of four wins out of five. The game was to be played at the new home ground Humberston School, and the lads proudly paraded their brilliant new blue and white kit that had been kindly donated by new sponsor WR Forktrucks.

The match kicked off and both teams attacked with purpose from the first whistle. Clee Bees were the first to attack down the right hand side and George and Toby in the Clee Town defence did well to snuff out the danger before the forward could get anywhere near Tom's goal. Straight away a long clearance out of defence by Captain Jake led to a counter attack. Kane played a neat one two with Harrison who in turn played a through ball between two Bees defenders for the dangerous Jamie to latch onto. As he burst into the penalty box he managed to get a shot off but directed it straight at the keeper. The game flowed from end to end but the Clee Town defence of Kai,George,Toby,Jake and Tom stood firm to keep the score 0-0 whilst the hardworking midfield of Kane,Benji,Harrison and Hoby tried to provide the opportunities on goal for the dangerous Jamie and Brandon. It wasnt long before the 1st goal arrived and it was great work between the Clee Town midfield that created the chance. Benji won the ball in the centre circle with an excellent tackle and he in turn played the ball out to the left wing were the nifty Hoby was lurking. Hoby set off on one of his mazy runs and managed to square the ball across the penalty box to Kane. Kane rode the challenge of two Bees defenders and managed to dispatch a crisp shot past the oncoming keeper for his first goal for the team,1-0 to Clee Town. Within minutes of the restart the scores were level as the pacy Clee Bees forward managed to take advantage of a defensive error and place his shot past Tom. 1-1. The game continued to go from end to end and the second goal soon arrived. Kai managed to intercept the ball on the edge of the Clee Town penalty box and played a great ball down the line to Harrison. Harrison dribbled the ball past his marker at pace and played a lovely ball inside to Brandon. Brandon then spun his defender and threaded the ball through to Jamie whom took one touch to control the ball and the second touch fired the ball past the goalkeeper.2-1 to Clee Town. The first half ended with the score 2-1 to Clee Town. The second half kicked off and not long after the Clee Bees managed to equalize from the penalty spot. Kai was harshly judged to have handballed as a Clee Bee forward took a shot inside the penalty box and it hit his arm. From the spot the Clee Bees player made no misake with a well taken penalty much to the annoyance of a despairing Tom.2-2. The second Clee Bees goal had somehow unsettled the Clee Town players and they were now wondering if the missed opportunities in the first half would come back to haunt them. The third goal for the Bees soon arrived. There was some confusion between the Clee Town midfield and the backline and this enabled a Clee Bees player to run unchallenged into the penalty box and score their third goal. Clee Town immediately attacked and Hoby who was now operating on the right wing managed to attack the left back and go through one on one with the goalkeeper. Unfortunately he took a little longer than normal to get his shot off and the keeper managed to close him down when he did eventually shoot. Hoby held his head in his hands as he knew that normally the ball would be in the back of the net. However this didnt seem to phase him and with eight minutes left Clee Town managed to find the equalizer. Clement who had come on as a substitute for the hardworking Kai managed to play a ball down the right hand side for Hoby to latch onto. He in turn skipped past his marker and launched a ball into the danger area. What happened next was quite astonishing. A Clee Bees defender tried to clear the ball into touch and away from danger but only managed to hit the ball against the post, as the ball came back into play the Clee Bees goalkeeper lashed the ball back into his own net. There was a feeling of disbelief amongst the Clee Town players and supporters as to what had just happened!!!! 3-3. There was only a couple of minutes left now but the goal had given the Clee Town lads a fresh impetus and the whole of the team was now working hard, looking for the winning goal. The midfield chased down the ball on the halfway line and Harrison sent the ball over to Hoby. He ran towards the Clee Bees goal and managed to dispatch a crisp shot goalwards which the goalkeeper managed to parry. In doing so the ball dropped straight at the feet of Hoby who dinked a lovely ball back into the danger area. With one swipe of his trusty right boot, Jamie connected with the ball brilliantly and fired the ball into the back of the net via the underside of the cross bar. 4-3. The final whistle then signalled the end of a very entertaining match and both the Clee Town supporters and players were happy that they had made a winning start to the campaign. Well done to all the lads for their performance and the fact that they never gave up when 2-3 down.

The team today was as follows : Tom, Kai, Jake, Toby, George, Harrison, Benji, Kane, Hoby, Brandon, Jamie
